There are many things I love in life: the sound of my son singing to himself, the smell of my florist’s shop, walking the streets of a new city, beautifully made clothes, stocking our kitchen cupboards from farmers’ markets, the subtle scent of a Serge Lutens perfume, listening to a podcast and feeling like I’m conversation with a friend, walking through a wallpapered room and, at the end of a super-busy week and the perfect martini.
But I also have a passion for two other things: interior design and education.
Living in a place you love and that inspires you is an essential part of having a happy and fulfilled life. I’m shocked at how many people tell me that for years they’ve put up with badly designed and badly-organised homes. The place you call your home should be a place in which you can be yourself and that inspires you. Why is this difficult for many of us, given that we in Australia are amongst the biggest consumers of interiors magazines?
Now, not everyone can afford an interior designer to help achieve your vision, and besides, many people enjoy designing their own places themselves. I know from dozens of projects with couples and individuals that it can be really overwhelming knowing what to do and how to start a project.
I am super excited to announce the first of a series of design workshops. They are being held in my studio. Three hours of design inspiration to really help you think about how to turn ideas into action. The number will be kept small so that there will be heaps of opportunity to ask loads of questions.
Some of the things we’ll cover:
How do you go about actually creating a home you love?
What makes a space sing?
Why do some places look amazing but feel cold and clinical?
What is the DNA of a beautiful and functional room?
Sunday 28 August from 10am-1pm
The cost is $189.00 per person and anyone who signs up before 14 August will be in the running to win a 2 hour one-to-one design consultation valued at $660 (this will be drawn and announced on the day).
You can book with Eventbrite
